Katie is an American Girl with a zeal for helping others! Volunteering has been always a passion of hers, she enjoys to dedicate her time and energy in order to make an impact in people’s lives. She recently started her experience as a volunteer at ELO, an institution that creates opportunities to change teenagers’ lives through their preparation and placement for the workplace in the future.

Be: Why did you choose to come to Brazil for an exchange program?

I have always been fascinated in Brazilian Culture and wanted to experience it for myself.

Be: What is the main reason you choose to go on exchange?

I wanted to immerse myself in another culture – see and experience much more than I could in my routines at home.

Be: What are your goals with this experience? If we met at the end of your stay, which achievements would you like to tell your friends you had.

I want to be an impact on the on the lives of other people. I want to learn much more about Brazilian life. I also want to better my communication skills.
 
Be: How do you feel today that you are starting this experience?

I am excited for what is to come in the next month.
