Zombie Walk in Curitiba

Brazilian carnival, known here as “carnaval” is simply the biggest Open Festival in the world and It is always celebrated 46 days before Easter. Different cities in Brazil have different ways to celebrate it but in general the event involves some colorful frenzy between people happily jumping and dancing samba at the street. Well, in one particular city in Brazil called Curitiba something unused happens every year during Carnival: A Zombie Walk!

 

What is a zombie walk?

A zombie walk is an public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes and make up. The participants usually meet in an open area and make their way around the city as they were zombies. This all began during 2000s in America and since then zombie walk events are organized all around the world.

 

The fist Zombie walk in Curitiba happened in 2008 but since 2009 the event always occurs only during the Carnival. Last year’s event, although it was a rainy day, had over 8.000 people participating! This year’s gathering will start at Praça Osório, then the participants will walk around Rua XV, Street Barão do Rio Branco, Street Riachuelo, Park 19 de Dezembro, Street Cândido Xavier and it will finish at the MON museum.

Ps: If you are interested in getting a zombie make-up there will be one Stand at praça Osório doing Zombie Walk make-up for R$25,00. This service will be available from 11am until 1pm.
