1. Madalosso – Italian

Once considered one of the biggest restaurants in the world, Madalosso is renowned in the city for its Italian cuisine. Founded in 1963, Madalosso is located at the Italian neighbourhood of Curitiba, Santa Felicidade. It operates in a “rodízio” system, where you will pay a fixed price and waiters will offer you several times samples of each dish on the menu. 2. Cia do Pastel – Pastel

Pastel is a very popular Brazilian food. It is fried crispy dough filled with all types of different of assortments. Ground meat, mozzarella cheese, chicken, shrimp and even including some sweeter ingredients such as guava jam. Cia do Pastel operates in two different systems: the rodizio and à la carte. For those who choose the last, you will be able to pick from 70 different flavours. However, if you would like to try the variety we recommend the rodizio, where they will offer 30 different flavours!

If you are feeling brave, Cia do Pastel offers you a challenge: eat 3 (really) big pastéis and you will pay nothing for it!

4. Municipal Market (Mercado Municipal) – Variety of Foods

The Municipal Market of Curitiba is that place where you can find whatever related to food you want: typical or unusual spices, fruits, chocolates, drinks… During the weekend it is an amusement park for many food lovers. There, you can find many restaurants to eat and have access to the most varied cuisine! 

Many weekends, the City Hall or Folkloric Groups offer a range of activities as courses, shows and cultural activities!

5. Mercatu – Pizza

Brazilian Pizza is different. We eat it with a knife and fork. And we definitely don’t save on toppings. To have the real Brazilian Pizza experience you should go to Mercatu. It operates by the rodizio system and will offer you 50 different pizza flavours (salty and sweet!) They also offer an à la carte menu if you don’t feel as trying all those flavours.

6. C’adore: comida descomplicada – Variety of Foods

Again, Curitiba is pioneer: C’adore is the first Gastronomic Villa in Brazil! There, you can find 45 different restaurants to eat from. The space was designed to be comfortable and a refuge from the downtown pace. 

Their purpose is to offer uncomplicated food, with quality and in a good environment. However, if you don’t feel as going out, you can ask them to deliver it for you.

7. Baba Salim – Arabic Food

20 years ago, started as a tiny Arabic Bar. Baba Salim has already won culinary bar competitions in Curitiba by having traditional arabic recipes. Now, they have two units: the original, by the side of Guaíra Theater, and a new one which also open for lunch.

8. Quintal do Guima – Bar & Variety

If you think all the rodizios where the same, Quintal do Guima is here to let you know that no. At this restaurant, you can order how many dishes you want from a 30 appetizers menu. Some of them are quite unique, as the Curitiba’s carne de onça (raw cow meat macerated and well seasoned) and feijoada dumpling. They also offer lunch!
