When applying to one of our programs you might be asked to attach your CV with the other documentation. We already wrote an article giving tips about how to write a cover letter for an internship abroad and now we will give you some hints and tips to help you to improve your CV.

Check it out:

Communicate your skills

Take some time to think about what things will  make your CV stand out among the others.  Think about interesting and impressive things that makes you profile unique. Remember that your CV ideally should expose your experiences, goals, values accomplishments. What is your employer looking for? What would make they chose you instead of someone else? How can you make the reader more comfortable while reading your CV?

It is common that students will be sending a CV for the first time when they are applying to an internship. This will be their first time putting all their previous experiences into a piece of paper! If a student didn’t have any previous work experiences, this is not a problem. Experiences in a practical environment, communication skills, creativity and leadership skills are important to be mentioned. Your mission while filling it is to communicate all that is relevant.

Organize the information

It is also really important to organize your CV properly. We recommend you to put your information combing chronological and functional aspects. If you do it this way, it will be easier to you highlight your experiences at the same time you states your objective.

Emphasizing what your work experience and skills gives the reader a good impression of you. After all, that’s what the company wants to keep an eye on. Remember to list headings so important information will appear first! You should create separate headings for employment, education, skills and volunteer experience.

Try to summarize all the information in only one page. Your reader might never get to the second page.

Extra tips:

– Enhance your online presence! If you are not already on Linkedin, get on it. Think of it as an online CV and networking;

– Hobbies and interests are a creative way to talk about your personality and skills, but remember that those items are not considered very important;

– You don’t need to add references on your CV, unless it was specifically asked;

– Don’t be shy about mentioning such things as high grades or awards. If you don’t have many previous work experience, this is a great way to improve your CV;

– Less is more! Although is very important to be creative, always use a clean layout.

– Prepare it in advance so you will have time to proofread and double check everything you wrote.
