In July of this year we received Diego Ramirez, Mexican/American student of Civil Engineering at Texas Tech University in the USA for our internship program. He interned SENAI, a national service for industrial training, located in Curitiba.
Now that he finished his exchange program, we met with Diego to learn more about the experience he had during his staying in Curitiba, you can watch his interview or check it out below:
How was your learning experience here in Brazil?
So the learning experience in the labs it was something that I wasn’t used to because some of the experiments they do here I haven’t learned them. They are something new so in the different labs they showed me how to do the tests for water samples so that’s something I’m going to take over there to try and look for a job. I got here letters of recommendation that it’s going to help me with those jobs and I already got the skills that maybe not all of employees that going to apply for these jobs have. That’s going to be something that’s going to help when looking for a job.
Can you tell us about the cultural aspects of the exchange program?
It was really good, it was something different. It was something that I was expecting since I lived in Mexico and they told me it was kind of similar, but when I got here it was completely different. The cultural experience was completely different from what I was used to in Mexico and in the United States, but I really liked it because it was something different that I could learn and about my experiences in the lab. I learned a lot of stuff that I didn’t even knew because I haven’t take some of the classes yet
We also interviewed Ana Cristina de Oliveira Santos Andrade from SENAI, to know how was the experience of receiving Diego at the company and luckily we received a positive answers from them:
How would you evaluate this experience?
This was a very good experience for both parts I believe, because we were able to get to know a different culture and he was able to experience the reality of the labs here at the Institute in Brazil so I believe that is has been a positive experience for both sides, the team from the lab got to know a different culture and Diego learned about the methodologies and essays we use here in Brazil.
