Minerva Bonilla is one of the Texas Tech students that arrived in june for an internship here in Brazil. She is currently working at TETO, one of our partner NGOs, which works with the construction of houses and infrastructure projects for less fortunate communities. She is helping them to develop three projects in the civil engineering area.
The projects are based on alternatives ways of constructing houses, alternative materials for the constructions and the rainwater reservation and distribution. Minerva mentioned she is not completely immersed on these projects, but that she is doing a little bit of everything, mainly designing and calculating.
She is fluent in Spanish, which makes it easier for her to try to understand Portuguese. When she arrived, she mentioned that this was one of the reasons she wanted to come to Brazil, to get to learn portuguese, learn more about our country and our culture as well. We hope Minerva is having a good time here in Brazil!
