Storytelling: Nathalie Werebe from USA

Nathalie is an American graduated in Education and Psychology who truly loves helping others  and teaching. She has been in Brazil over 10 times already and has visited many countries around the world but this will be her first time living in our country. She decided to participate of our volunteer program and will be helping the Youth Development Center in Curitiba.

We met Nathalie to know more about her first impressions about Brazil. Here you can check our interview with the student:

Be: Why did you choose to come to Brazil for an exchange program?

My father is from São Paulo and it has always been my dream to speak Portuguese and live in Brazil.

Be: What is the main reason you choose to go on exchange?

I wanted to learn about real Brazil, not just my family and their life but also the lives of other Brazilians

Be: What are your goals with this experience? If we met at the end of your stay, which achievements would you like to tell your friends you had.

My primary goal is to speak Portuguese comfortably. I want to travel and see sites I have never been to. I want to make great friends that I will keep for my life.

Be: How do you feel today that you are starting this experience? Can you describe your feelings?

I feel very excited and also overwhelmed to be in a completely new city, starting from scratch, with no family or friends is always scary at first. But I’m very excited to know this city, meet new people and learn new things.
