If you are currently living in Curitiba or you’re looking forward to visit this city, you are a very lucky person, because if there is one thing that we cannot complain about Curitiba, it’s its nightlife! The nightlife in Curitiba has a diverse variety of places to go out in different parts of the city that can please every urban tribe. Below you can check  the 3 best neighborhoods of the city and its options of  bars, clubs, restaurants in Curitiba.

1) Batel 

Batel is among the main areas with an assortment of bars and clubs in proximity to each other, as well as the most international area of the city.  You can find good places to sit down and eat, watch popular sporting events, grab some drinks, go dancing, and get late night munchies. Many say it is the best nightlife of Curitiba. Here is a list of places to go and descriptions:

Madero  – “The best burger in the world.” Might not quite live up to their popular slogan to most people, but still a great place to go and get a good burger and fries.

 

James Bar  – Is technically considered an LGBTQ bar, but regardless it is a fun and popular place for anyone to go and enjoy their night.  With music programming from Wednesday to Sunday, the music is on account of the DJ or band playing.  James Bar has three bars, one of which is located in the upstairs corridor, a dance floor, lounge with ottomans and sofas, and an exhibition space.

 

WS Brazil –  “A place for those who like to shake the soul, meet friends and celebrate life.” This is a place with a contemporary look and a feel of unique Brazilianness, facilitating all to enter the Brazilian way of having fun.  The music here consists of authentic Brazilian classic samba, pagode, and samba rock.  WS has a little restaurant area with a patio and bar located in the front, while the back is host to the nightclub scene equipped with a dance floor, bar, and VIP areas.

 

Sláinte – Is an Irish Pub with a classical pub front and an up-tempo back.  This is a place you can go to grab a drink and watch a sporting event, hang out with friends and share good conversation, or get your boogey on in the back to a lively music scene.  Sláinte has a bar in the front with tables and a projector screen, as well as a bar in the back next to the dance floor, with a small seating area as well.

 

Taj Bar – Is a lavish looking sushi bar that has three different environments within it: the deck, the lounge, the main hall.   This is a great place to go to eat dinner and get the night started off with happy hour, offering double-drink till 20h every night.  Taj has no dance floors, but it is full of action every night.

 

Soviet Vodka Bar – The first Vodka Bar in Curitiba, Soviet has a sophisticated and elegant look, inspired by Russian bars. On the menu are typical dishes such as the Scandinavian and Russian Baikal (mignon medallion with special sauce of mustard and vodka, accompanied by rice with crispy potatoes and flaxseed). More than 50 kinds of famous brands of vodkas, martinis, caipirinhas, and beer are served at the bar.

 

Cosmos Gastro Bar – Inspired on the universe, Cosmos Gastro Bar is the perfect spot for inspiration. It’s totally unexpected. All the drinks were created by local bartenders. They are innovative and with many traces of the local culture. The cuisine nothing less than fun. The description of each one of the dishes was carefully thought to make you absolutely want to try it. It is the perfect place to go in an adventure on an ideal nightlife in Curitiba.

 

*Street Hot dog stands – Not your regular American hot dog, these mini street grilles provide some of the best and the most unique hot dogs you will ever encounter.  Hot dog stands are the best places in the city to grab a quick snack that will fill you up, or late night to grab some cheap munchies; they can be found on almost every other block. They stay up until early morning, so if you’re hungry all nightlife in Curitiba, it is the perfect place to go.

 

 

2) Itupava Street

It is an area with restaurants and bars with a more native feel and original Brazilian cuisines, décor, and sounds. This is a place to visit if you want to indulge in a fully Brazilian environment. It is perfect for an elegant nightlife in Curitiba tour.

Bella Banoffi – Is a very cozy restaurant and café with handcraft made decoration. They serve typical dishes, but have a wide menu. It is a good place to go for lunch, and on weekdays they have a special menu for lunch hours. They are especially known for their delicious pies, and other ‘main course deserts.’

 

Forneria Copacabana – Is a very nice contemporary styled lounge bar that serves “cosmopolitan gastronomy”. They have an awesome back yard, the perfect place to grab some food and a drink on a sunny afternoon.

 

Estofaria Bar – A Brazilian ‘hipster’ spot, the atmosphere is informal and relaxed and open kitchen is the center of the bar. In the tables inside, there is also a covered porch facing the street Itupava. The outer walls were painted by the artist Fernando Franciosi, and inside, the sound tends to be a modern jazz.  The bar also offers a choice of ethnic seasonings; bring to your table the best food of Morocco, Spain, Bahia, India and China.

 

Menina Zen – A corner house that is spacious and airy, Zen is a bar with lots of green area, garden with hammocks, mezzanine and a heated deck.  The decor is rustic, with demolition items like bars of iron and heavy timber. Upstairs, cushions and poufs invite you to relax.  Their specialty is the steak on the plate and Cookie Drought. 3) São Francisco:

This neighborhood is located right in downtown and just like Batel it has an assortment of bars and clubs in proximity to each other. The places located in São Francisco tend to be cheaper than in Batel and Itupava. For students, there is no place better to enjoy the nightlife in Curitiba.

Lado B – A rock-n-roll bar with many options of different beers and cachaças. The decor of the place has posters of classic movies and classic bands. Sometimes Lado B has live local rock’n’roll bands to cheer up their customers. This is the perfect place for rock & beer lovers!

 

Empório São Francisco – This place began as a small bar but it became very popular among different urban tribes. On Sundays they play Samba, On Tuesdays they play Popular Brazilian Music and local bands play during the rest of the week-days. They also serve finger foods such as fries, cassava fries and polenta fries. On Wednesdays they have double drink from 10pm to 1am and on Sundays from 7pm to 10pm.

 

O Torto – The name of the bar is a homage to the Brazilian soccerball player Garrincha. The whole place is decorated with pictures and portraits of him telling his story through the years. There is only a few tables at the bar and usually people stay standing on the street drinking beer and eating meatballs, their most traditional finger food. It also has a pool table for those who like to play it.

 

Pizza – Wanna get great cheap pizza? At São Francisco street or Trajano Reis street you will find a small place conveniently called “Pizza”. You can get a delicious slice for five reais but you will have to eat it standing on the sidewalk. During the night, Pizza is usually packed with students  looking for a cheap meal, beer and a place to just hang out.

 

Wonka/WNK – This  bar is known for being a friendly LGBT place and it is  very diverse when it comes to music styles! Depending of the day of the week they have Jazz, Blues, Indie, Samba, Rock and on Fridays they have a karaoke night. When is Karaoke night one floor is dedicated for those who wants to sing and the other floor is a dance floor so you can have the best of both worlds!  A great thing about this place is that they are always investing in culture, so they often have cultural manifestos involving poetry, theater, music and other forms of art.

 

Sal Grosso – Since its inauguration in 1985 this place has the same rustic decoration and menu. This is the perfect spot for churrasco lovers! Its rump is very popular among the costumers and it comes with salad, rice, farofa and homemade mayo, the portion can serve 3 people!  They also have sandwiches, pizzas, finger foods and many options of beers, liquors and chopps.

 

Jokers – This is a place that pleases every urban tribe! It’s a bar, a pub, a restaurant, a nightclub and a show house that plays pretty much every music style, from Celtic music to rock’n’roll! This is a really eclectic and multi-functional  place for samba, jazz, indie, hip hop, soul, folk, blues, rock, alternative lovers. Their menu has several cocktails, chops, beers, liquors and dishes that vary according to the day of the week.

 

*Street Hotdog stands – Just like in Batel, in São Francisco you can also find several options of street hot dog stands that will serve you a quick snack. They are located pretty much in every corner of this neighborhood.
