Last week we welcomed Nina Sekular. She came from Finland to be a part of a NGO in Curitiba.
The organization CASLA Latin America was founded in 1985 to promote discussions about the issues in Latin America through educational and cultural activities.
We interviewed Nina to get to know her expectations for the next few weeks and what were the reasons that made her come to Brazil. Check it out:
Brazilian Experience: Why did you choose to come to Brazil for an exchange program?
Nina: I wanted to get experience from the human rights field in Brazil and understand how international human rights standards are protected and respected here.
Brazil is a culturally diverse country, different from the other countries I´ve visited, and this is an unique opportunity to learn more about the people, culture and language.
BE: What is the main reason you choose to intern?
Nina: To receive work experience in my own field, but also to contribute, through workway, to an organization that may not have the resources to employ enough staff.
BE: What are your goals with this experience? If we met at the end of your stay, which achivements would you like to tell your friends you had?
Nina: My goals are to learn more about the NGO I will be working with, about their every day work and the challenges they may face. I hope that we will be able to support each other and learn from one another. I also hope to learn portuguese!
BE: How do you feel today that you are starting this experience? Can you describe your feelings?
Nina: I´m looking forward to starting this experience. I´m feeling excited but calm and confident that this will be a wonderful experience.
