We welcomed Sami Vallin from Finland in early September to intern in the project of the Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR) in the field of Environmental Geology. During his internship he hopes to gain understanding on geology and environment in Brazil, in order to develop his knowlegde on environmental problems on more international level.
We met with Sami and asked about his thoughts on starting his internship in Brazil. Here you can see more about Sami’s views upon his arrival in Curitiba:
Brazilian Experience: What are you expectations for the program?
Sami: I expect to widen my understanding from my own field, learn some Portuguese and meet nice new people and get new friends.
BE: Why did you choose to come to Brazil?
Sami: I met one year ago nice and cool Brazilian friend and decided then I should visit once in Brazil to see Brazilian culture. Now I had to change to do it.
BE: What is the main reason that led you to become a volunteer/intern?
Sami: There is not much work placement in Finland right now and this might be last change to be longer time abroad, so I wanted to have still this experience. That’s why I decided to become intern and come to learn new working culture.
