It is the 31^st edition of Oficina de Música de Curitiba (Curitiba’s Music Workshop) and from January, 9^th to 29^th, the capital of Paraná is host to a variety of artistic activities revolving around music.

There are courses, concerts, presentations and seminars, which aim to reach around 50 thousand people. The educational schedule is planned towards the individual musical formation of the students, as well as group practices, always held under the tutelage of renowned professors and artists.

The event first began on 1983, when 200 music students gathered for eight courses offered at Solar do Barão. As the years went by, the number of courses and participants has multiplied to the point where Oficina da Música has become one of the most important events on Paraná’s music field. It is held by Curitiba’s City Hall alongside Curitiba’s Cultural Foundation, through Curitiba’s Art and Culture Institute.

This year, for the 92 music courses, there will be professors from all over Brazil and also from other 17 countries, such as Switzerland, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany and Mexico. Most of them will take place at Universidade Tecnológica do Paraná – UTFPR. The event is divided in two phases: one for Classical and Ancient music, which will happen until January, 19^th; and the other for Brazilian Popular Music, which starts at January 20^th and goes until the 29^th.

Throughout the entire month, the public will have access to a schedule full of attractions that range from showings of documentaries to concerts with artists from all over the world. It all takes place on various theaters and cultural spaces of Curitiba and a lot of them are free or very inexpensive. There will be more than 80 spectacles for all tastes.
