Recently, we welcomed Krystal Mellonakos, our new volunteer for the Teach Abroad program. She is working as an English tutor with Danu, our other volunteer from World Teach, at Centro de Transformação Social Vida Nova, one of our partner NGOs. She’s from the USA and studies International Affairs at the Northeastern University.

Krystal mentioned that she wanted to come to Brazil to get to know more of our culture, which has always been a passion for her and also to be able to practice some Portuguese. She told us as well that she chose this program because she knew it was just right for her, she believes that education is the key for a successful society – part of the work she is developing with children and teenagers as a tutor.

Krystal has already started her activities and seems to be having a good experience so far, including with her host family, that has been showing her the city sights. She intends to make an actual impact in the children’s lifes and expects them to impact hers as well.
