What do you know about this Brazilian Music style? We Brazilians are very proud of Bossa Nova and even Theguardian.com has once said that  Bossa Nova is “the highest flowering of Brazilian culture” so check it out and get to know more about Bossa Nova:

 

Bossa Nova has officially started around the 50’s right after the Second World War when Brazil had a good economic scenario. Back then, young folks from Rio were optimistic about their generation and then they created this unique music style that mixes Samba rhythms and melodic elements of cool Jazz.

 

The typical instruments found in Bossa Nova’s songs are the piano, electric organ, classical guitar and some acoustic instruments like bass and drums. The main performances of Bossa Nova are performed on the nylon-string classic guitar (using a finger not a pick). The Bossa Nova singers usually has jazzy and gaudy voices and use in a operatic style.

 

Bossa Nova usually has longing, nature, youth, nature, love, women, homesickness and longing. After the 60’s people’s struggles and liberty were also lyrical themes found in Bossa Nova due to the political developments that were happening in Brazil. A few of the biggest Bossa Nova singers are: Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, João Gilberto, Elza Soares, Vinícius de Moraes, Tom Jobim and Gal Costa

 

In spite of being the most famous music style here in Brazil, Bossa Nova is known worldwide and articles about Bossa Nova were publish in different medias. Once Thegaurdian.com published an article about Bossa Nova saying that ” Bossa nova is not just elevator music or the rhythm button on a home organ.
