Our barbecue is very known worldwide and here we call it “churrasco”. It all began with Southern Brazilian men cooking meat in the country area after a long day wrangling cattle. Nowadays it is popular from South to North and there is not a single Brazilian who have never tried it -don’t worry, there is options for vegetarians as well! When it comes to churrasco the social class is not an issue because people adapt the event to their economic reality!
Differently from the other barbecues ours have several types of meat, sometimes the churrascarias (BBQ in an all you eat style) can have even more than 20 different cuts and meats! The most famous cuts are the baby beef, top sirloin, filet mignon and pork loin. For the vegetarians veggies kebabs, grilled pineapple, garlic bread and cheesee are the way to go!
The best thing about churrasco is that we don’t need to have a reason to organize one! Everytime we feel like having a good time with family and friends we just go to the closest place with a barbeque (usually made of bricks) and start the fun!
To create a truly Brazilian Experience we organized a Churrasco to our exchange students and friends! The event started by the end of the afternoon and it had no time to end. While our team was preparing the barbecue everybody started to talk to each other until the food arrived: then everybody was too busy eating! We had varieties of meet, garlic bread, potato salad, vinaigrette and veggies kebabs! It was an authentic Brazilian thing but with an multicultural environment! Awesome!
